Create your company in Orbit
Creating a company gives you an organization, a site on your own address and an administrator account, all created together.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need an e-mail address you can read and a password that meets the password policy: by default at least 10 characters. See Security settings.
Section titled “Sign up”-
Open Sign up on the Orbit website and choose a plan: Free, Team or Business. For Enterprise, contact us.
-
Fill in the form:
- the company name,
- the company address: a short name that becomes
<slug>.orbit.inortix.com, - your name,
- your e-mail address,
- your password.
-
Submit the form. Orbit mails a one-time link to the address you gave. The link is valid for 24 hours. Orbit answers the same way for a new and for an existing address.
-
Open the link from the e-mail to confirm your e-mail address. In one step Orbit creates:
- your account, or it uses the account you are signed in with if it has that address,
- the organization, with you as its owner,
- the site on
<slug>.orbit.inortix.com, with its own storage, - your place on that site as site administrator.
-
Orbit sends you an e-mail with everything you need to sign in at your company address. Sign in there, for example at
acme.orbit.inortix.com, and create your first project. See Your first project.
Opening the link a second time shows the same result and creates nothing new.
The 14-day trial
Section titled “The 14-day trial”Every new company starts with a 14-day Business trial, no card required, whichever plan you chose. After the trial your company continues on the plan you chose, or on Free. Nothing is deleted when a plan has lower limits: content over a limit becomes read-only. See Plans and billing.
Limits and refusals
Section titled “Limits and refusals”| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Too many links requested for one address in a day | No further e-mail is sent. |
| Too many sign-ups from one network in a day | Refused. |
| The address you chose is reserved | Refused. Pick another one. |
| The address is already taken | Refused. This can also happen if someone takes it while your link is waiting. |
| An account already exists for your e-mail and you are not signed in | Sign in first, then open the link again. |
| You are signed in as someone else | Sign out, or sign in as the person who registered. |
| The link has expired | Request a new one. |
