Search
Orbit Folio has two ways to find things: quick open for pages you know, and a search page for everything else. This page is for anyone who reads pages, and for space administrators who want to see what people fail to find.
Quick open with Ctrl+K
Section titled “Quick open with Ctrl+K”Press Ctrl+K to open quick search.
- It shows your recent pages first.
- It searches page titles from the first character.
- You can move through the results with the keyboard.
- It also offers Search pages, issues and repositories for … for your text.
Search pages
Section titled “Search pages”The search page looks through the title and the text of pages. A match in a title counts for more than a match in the text, and the matching fragments are highlighted in the results.
Search understands Russian and English word forms, so different forms of a word find the same page. Results show only the pages you may see. A page with a view restriction that excludes you never appears.
You can narrow the results with filters:
| Filter | Narrows to |
|---|---|
| Space | One space |
| Label | Pages with a label. You can use a label alone, or together with text. |
| Author | Pages by one person |
| Date | Pages from a period |
A search result also shows the verification badge of the page. See Page trust and freshness.
Search pages, work and repositories together
Section titled “Search pages, work and repositories together”The same page shows matching Orbit work items and Forge repositories next to the pages. Folio asks each product with your own session, so each product decides what you may see. Folio stores nothing of this.
| Source | How it is matched |
|---|---|
| Pages | Title and text, with the filters above |
| Orbit work items | Each word of your query as text, up to eight words. If you type a work item key, the item with that key is found. |
| Forge repositories | All words must appear in the name, slug or description. An exact name and a name that starts with your words come first. |
Work items load 20 at a time, with Show more issues for the rest. Folio asks Forge for the repositories of each of your projects and keeps the answer for a minute.
Read the results
Section titled “Read the results”A switch above the results shows Everything, Pages, Orbit issues or Forge repositories, each with a count.
- In Everything, pages are on the left. Work items and repositories are on the right, five of each, below the pages on a phone.
- All N issues and All N repositories open the full list.
- If you typed a work item key or a repository name, that match is shown first as the Best match.
- A work item opens in its Orbit card. A repository opens in Forge.
- Open this search in Orbit runs the same words in Orbit search, in the same project.
This space narrows work items and repositories to the project of the space. The author, date and label filters belong to pages only. When you use one of them, Folio searches pages only and says so.
If Forge or Orbit does not answer, the rest of the results stay. The column of the product that failed says it did not answer. A project where you have no access to Forge simply gives no repositories.
Find what people could not find
Section titled “Find what people could not find”Folio records searches that found nothing. Space administrators see the list as a map of knowledge gaps, with a Write this page shortcut for each search.
- A search is recorded only in a project the person belongs to.
- Only space administrators see the list.
- Reads by Lumen are never recorded.
The list is part of the Reviews view, together with the review queue and space health. See Page trust and freshness.
