Page trust and freshness

A knowledge base is only useful if readers can tell whether a page is still right. Folio gives every page an owner and a review interval, shows a badge that says whether the page was verified, and raises signals when something the page relies on has changed.

  • The owner is the author by default.
  • The review interval is set per page, or inherited from the space. It can be 7 to 730 days; the default is 180 days.
  • Only the page owner or a project administrator can Mark as verified. Verification records who verified and when.

Readers see one of these badges, with the date and the verifier:

Badge Meaning
Verified The owner or an administrator verified the page within its review interval
Review overdue The review interval has passed
Possibly outdated An automatic signal suggests the content may no longer be right
Not reviewed yet The page has never been verified

After a page is verified, Folio watches for events that make it “possibly outdated”, and tells the reader why:

  • a page was edited after verification;
  • an Orbit work item linked from the page was closed or changed after verification;
  • a Forge file embedded in the page changed after verification;
  • a Pulse monitor that the page links to was deleted.

Signals are computed with the reader’s permissions: only work items the reader can see count, and a product that cannot be reached gives no signal rather than a false alarm.

The Reviews view for a space shows:

  • Waiting for you: your own pages, from 14 days before their review deadline;
  • space health: the share of outdated pages;
  • pages without an owner;
  • pages nobody reads;
  • searches with no result, visible only to space administrators, each with a Write this page shortcut. A search is recorded only in a project the searcher belongs to.

Each page records views, unique readers and when it was last read. Readers can answer Was this page helpful?. The text of feedback is visible only to people who can edit the page.

Reads by Lumen do not count as views, do not appear in “recent” and are not recorded in the log of searches with no result.
